Social Activities

Social Activities

We enjoy a varied social programme during the year starting with our Annual Dinner in January. Each of our musical sections also arrange occasional get togethers for dinner locally. During the summer months members arrange garden parties, and garden fun days with games for all the family, or maybe barbecue or river trip. It has become a tradition that following our overseas concerts, we have a themed evening remembering the tour. We celebrate with a meal and slide or video shows to remind us of the happy times we spent abroad. So far we have had French, Bavarian, Italian and Moravian evenings. As winter approaches we look forward to our stalwart committee members entertaining us at a Christmas party - whoopee!

The walking section of our choir meet regularly to walk in lovely countryside and afterwards enjoy lunch either at a members home or local pub. We also look forward to our long weekend trips further afield.

The Choir Annual Dinner was held in January 2007 at Flynn's Restaurant. We all had a lovely evening, there was a lot of laughter and the meal was outstanding. We can't wait for the next one.

To help our fundraising, we had a Fun Day at Joan and Bobs home on Sunday 18th June 2006. The day was remarkable successful and over £1,100 was raised to help choir funds and the C.A.T.S charity.

Barbara Murrell
Barbara has been a member of the choir for over 30 years and recently celebrated her 90th birthday. To mark the occasion, choir members contributed to a helicopter flight for Barbara and she was flown over her village of Gotherington and many of the surrounding villages. As Barbara said "I've lived here all these years but it was so surprising to see how the area looks from the sky"
